Reasi showing signs of improvement with steep decline in covid positivity rate: DC
Reasi: Deputy Commissioner, Charandeep Singh today said that the Reasi district is showing signs of great improvement with a steep decline in positivity rate.
Addressing a press conference to brief the media about the Covid situation, the DC said that the positivity rate has dropped to 2 percent and recovery rate has touched 94 percent, while there are only 213 active positive cases in the district which shows declining trends.
On vaccination, Charandeep Singh informed that Pouni, Katra and Reasi blocks have recorded good progress, but Block Mahore is lagging behind.
The DC expressed satisfaction over the pace of vaccination in the district except Mahore block, where he said the pace is slow despite taking various initiatives, including one week special vaccination drive. He further said that the vaccine is safe and it is an effective weapon against the deadly virus.
He again appealed to the general Public to come forward for vaccination and not pay heed to false rumours about it. He said that the rumour mongers will be severely dealt with. He warned that those reluctant to get vaccinated will be denied banking service and ration supply.
The DC appreciated senior citizens’ overwhelming response to covid vaccination. In this regard, he cited the example of 118 year old Sher Mohammad and said the general people should believe that the vaccine is safe.
Charandeep Singh further referred to a unique initiative for solving grievances of the general public being launched by the district administration on Tuesday under the aegis -Reasi Beeps-Beat the Pandemic. Under the initiative, the DC will personally listen to the issues of people from 11am to 12:30 on a dedicated phone number which will be shared with the public.
The DC informed that during the process all concerned officers will remain online and they will note down necessary instructions ensuring effective disposal of the grievances.
The DC said that PWD and PDD departments have also been directed to set up Control rooms to attend to complaints about Water and Electricity.
While talking about guidelines about opening of market, Charandeep Singh said that Dhabas and Dry fruit sellers at Katra will be allowed to open on alternate days.
