Religious and Social organizations came forward as true saviours of humanity during curfew/lockdown : Balbir Singh Sidhu

New Delhi: “During the curfew/lockdown imposed to stop the spread of corona virus, the religious as well as the social organisations have rendered valuable services in mitigating the lot of the people.” These views were expressed here today by the Health and Family Welfare, Labour Minister, Punjab, and Mohali MLA Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that every hand coming forward to help the humanity in these crisis times is the true well wisher of mankind.

He also said that he had recently met the Chief of Dera Beas Gurinder Singh Dhillon and had thanked him for the exceptional service rendered by the dera to serve the humans in distress. He further elaborated that the dera followers are distributing food packets to the needy people on a daily basis and had also established a record of disbursing maximum packets in a day. On the 5th of May, the dera followers disbursed 5,36,667 packets which is phenomenal.

Appreciating the efforts made by the dera to provide food and shelter to the people during the quarantine period, S. Sidhu said that the dera followers provided top quality food and better boarding and lodging facilities in comparison to the other states and the countries. The example set by the 119 Kendras of the dera is rarely found anywhere.

Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu further added that the dera management as well as the followers are serving the needy persons such as the migrants and quarantined people in 12 districts across Punjab and living up to the principle of ‘Kirat Karo tey Vand Chhako’ of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and ensuring that nobody sleeps hungry.
