Renovated Canteen Unveiled in Ural Federal University’s IRIT-RTF Building

After renovation, a canteen was opened in the building of the Engineering School of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Control Systems on the first day of the new semester. Not only was it renovated, but also the number of seats for students and teaching staff was increased.

“The opening of the canteen is the result of excellent joint work of the head of the catering facility, the director of the institute, and the Vice-Rector for General Affairs. Now students and teachers have a comfortable space for meals again, because, as they say, study is study, but lunch must be on schedule. I hope the renovated space will become a place where you can eat, study, and work on projects with your classmates,” said Victor Koksharov, Rector of UrFU.

The central place in the canteen is occupied with an art object: a wall with elements of futuristic digital design, which is a continuation of the theme of the Virtual and Augmented Reality Laboratory of IRIT-RTF. The images on the wall symbolize the stages of development of human thought, its connection with creativity on the Internet, and the metamorphoses that often arise because of this. Several teams of the project workshop will develop augmented reality elements for the new art object this semester.
