Republic Day 2022: National Flag unfurled at NIT Rourkela
Rourkela: In view of the COVID-19 pandemic and directives issued by the central/state government, no special program is organized at the institute this year on the occasion of 73rd Republic Day. However, a small function was organized to unfurl the national flag at the Administrative Building, the institute’s Staff Club and Technology Club. Following the preventive measures and protocol related to COVID-19 guidelines, only a few attendees were present at the event.
The event started with Republic Day Parade with one platoon of security unit of NIT Rourkela at the administrative building. Deans and Heads of the department were present at the event. The Director of the institute, Prof. Simanchalo Panigrahi then, unfurled the National Flag followed by the National Anthem. Addressing the audience, the Director said, “I congratulate the citizens of the country for standing together and feeling the pride of this day. I request my students and the NITR community to involve more in activities of social responsibility. The nation needs our accountability and involvement in society for prosperity and growth.”
The event concluded by performing the last event of the ceremony, in which the Director of the institute administrated the National Integration Pledge to all attendees. By following Covid-19 protocol, a few members of the Staff club also celebrated the event at the club. The Registrar of the institute, Prof. Pradip Kumar Das, unfurled the National Flag in the staff club and said, “Republic day is also a symbol of teamwork of our freedom fighters and citizens of the country and taking the inspiration from this auspicious day, we all should work together and think for more contribution towards nation-building.”
Dean Faculty, Prof. Chandan Kumar Sahoo, also unfurled the National Flag in Technology Club of the institute with a limited number of faculties.
