Republic Day at IIM Shillong

Shillong: Indian Institute of Management, Shillong celebrated the 69th Republic Day with
exuberance on a pleasant morning. The event witnessed a march past by the security
officials of IIM Shillong, followed by hoisting of the national flag and a rendering of the
national anthem.
Dr. Amitabha De, Director, IIM Shillong, in the presence of faculty members and students in
attendance exhorted, “We should reflect upon our past, and with vigor work towards our future goals. We have been bestowed upon a rich legacy and we must do our best to carry it forward.” The Director also discussed the IIM Bill and how it frames the future of this academic institute for the coming year. With the introduction of the Bill, Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management Shillong would soon be called Indian Institute of Management Shillong.
The patriotic celebrations were continued with fervent students participating in kite flying and bonding over the pleasant whether of Shillong.
“This day acts as a reminder of how far we have come as a nation but also that we have miles to go.”, said a student present at the ceremony. The event ended on a
high note as the students left with a renewed sense of patriotism and responsibility.
