Respiratory Medicine Department’s role in reporting TB cases appreciated
ALIGARH : The Department of Respiratory Medicine, J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University has been declared as first out of 67 medical colleges of Uttar Pradesh in notifying tuberculosis in pulmonary Koch’s, as well as extra pulmonary tuberculosis.
Prof. Mohammad Shameem, Chairman, Department of Respiratory Medicine, and Dr. Nafees Ahmad Khan, Nodal Officer, National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), J.N. Medical College, received the award from Mr Partha Sarthisen Sharma, Principal Secretary, Medical Education, Health and Family Welfare, Government of Uttar Pradesh during the 46th UP State Task Force NTEP meet, recently held at SGPGI, Lucknow. Prof Suryakant, Chairman, NTEP Zonal Task Force (North Zone), Dr G. V. Singh, Chairman, UP State Task Force and Prof Rajendr Prasad, Senior Pulmonologist and Ex-Chairman, National Task Force, NTEP were present on the occasion.
Prof Shameem said that the above senior officials lauded the efforts of JNMC’s Respiratory Medicine Department and recognized its role in the success of the country’s resolve to eliminate this deadly disease by 2025.
