Results of the meeting of the antiepizootic commission under the Government of the Republic of Karelia

Valeria Yurievna Sirotinina, Associate Professor of the Department of Animal Science, Fish Farming, Agronomy and Land Management of PetrSU, took part in the meeting of the commission.
During the work of the commission, they discussed the implementation of the most important tasks for the republic, dedicated to preventive measures to ensure food and epizootic security. The report of the representative of the Rosselkhoznadzor Department for the Republic of Karelia, the Arkhangelsk Region and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug contained information on the results of a study of meat, fish and dairy products produced both in the territory of Karelia and imported from other regions. Some facts of information falsification, in particular of meat products, were noted, and there were also some claims regarding fish farming products.

The head of the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Republican Center for Veterinary Medicine and Consulting” Zaitseva Oksana Yurievna reported on the implementation of the plan for conducting diagnostic studies, veterinary preventive and antiepizootic measures in farms of all forms of ownership in the Republic of Karelia.

It should be noted not only the effective work of the center in relation to preventive measures (vaccinations, anthelmintic, anti-mite treatments, blood sampling for diagnostic studies in productive and unproductive animals), but also its modernization.

So, in 2020, the testing laboratory of the center was accredited in accordance with the requirements of the international standard for the technical equipment and functioning of the management system. The laboratory carries out diagnostics of diseases of animals and fish, using both classical diagnostic methods and the most modern molecular genetic methods (PCR and ELISA), luminescence microscopy, including for the diagnosis of the causative agent of rabies, using the method of fluorescent antibodies; To assess the quality and safety of animal feed, a biotesting method was introduced in 2020. An animal shelter has been created on the basis of the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Republican Center for Veterinary Medicine and Consulting”. The construction of the shelter is also underway on the basis of the Medvezhyegorsk veterinary site.
