Results of the poetry translation competition

A poetry translation competition for first-year students of the “Pedagogical Education” direction of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of PetrSU and high school students of the Republic of Karelia is held annually within the framework of the “Language Marathon” event of the Department of English.
This year the jury (senior teachers of the English language department Dmitrieva Valeria Arkadyevna, Zherebtsova Tatyana Vladimirovna, Kyayvaryainen Izabella Nikolaevna) notes the active participation of senior pupils from schools in Petrozavodsk (Specialized School of Arts, MOU “Gymnasium No. 17 named after P.O. lyceum “), as well as from the city of Kem (MBOU” Kemskaya secondary school №2 “) and Belomorsk (MOU” Belomorskaya secondary school №1 “).

According to the jury, many interesting and worthy translations were submitted to the competition. It was not easy to choose the contenders for the prizes. The main criteria were the presence of a poetic rhythm and rhyme and the transfer of the content of the original poem. The winners are determined separately in the “Schoolchildren” category and in the “Students” category.

Among schoolchildren1st place is awarded to Daria Zhugina (10 “A” class of secondary school No. 1 in Belomorsk, teacher Nadezhda Aleksandrovna Kovalenko), 2nd place – to Polina Rutkovskaya (10th grade of Gymnasium No. 17, teacher Dolinko Marina Dmitrievna), 3rd place was shared by Daria Chikina (Specialized school arts, teacher Kovalevskaya Sofya Aleksandrovna) and Maria Titova (10 “A” class of secondary school №1 in Belomorsk, teacher Kovalenko Nadezhda Aleksandrovna).

Among the students, the places were distributed as follows:

1st place – Diana Vasilieva (group 213, profile “Primary education”)
2nd place – Inna Kalashnikova (group 712, profile “Teacher-psychologist of preschool education”)
3rd place – Arina Mokretsova (group 713, profile “Preschool defectology”) and Rodkina Kamilla (group 213, profile “Primary education”).
