Rice University: ‘Cultures of Energy’ podcast returns on Groundhog Day
The “Cultures of Energy” podcast, hosted by Rice University anthropologists Dominic Boyer and Cymene Howe, returns Feb. 2 with the first of 10 new episodes after a more than two-year hiatus. Beginning as a project of Rice’s Center for Energy and Environmental Research in the Human Sciences (CENHS), the show’s original run of 200 episodes from 2016 to 2019 built an audience in 170 countries through its mix of lively conversations between Howe and Boyer and leading artists, scholars and activists working on today’s most pressing environmental issues. The upcoming run of weekly episodes features interviews with anthropologists and philosophers Arturo Escobar and Beth Povinelli, award-winning writer David Farrier and Gail Simmons of the Bravo TV show “Top Chef.”
