This is especially necessary to deal with the repercussions of the ongoing pandemic. With more than 51,000 higher education institutions and 40 million students, we see no reason why a robust domestic economy cannot be driven by a highly trained and specialised talent pool. However, a host of issues must be swiftly addressed in order for us to unleash this massive potential. We should all be in sync with creating a self-reliant and truly independent India to ensure equitable prosperity for the entire nation”
The concept of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ came to the fore, when the Hon’ble PM of India, Shri Narendra Modi, announced a COVID-19 related economic package in May 2020. The vision is to drive self-reliance of the Indian Economy, to deal with the unprecedented challenges in the global market. With the recently proposed New Education Policy 2020, the Ministry of Education has also aimed to align itself with the same. There are however, a myriad of challenges which must be navigated in order to ensure a new age of growth, independence and opportunity, driven by a highly capable workforce.
