Ritika Mukherji, Alumni, Amity International School, Noida, chosen amongst Five Indian Rhodes Scholars for 2022
New Delhi: Ritika Mukherji, an Alumni from Amity International School, Noida has been selected amongst the five Rhodes Scholars-elect for India 2022.
Currently, a final year undergraduate student of Zoology at Miranda House, University of Delhi, Ritika completed her school from Amity International School Noida (2018-19 batch) where her love for Biology sprouted.
Expressing her excitement, Ritika said, “I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our Chairperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan Ma’am for providing me with an excellent platform for nurturing my talent and honing my skills. The confidence instilled in me and personality developed at Amity helped me achieve this goal. My journey with the Rhodes Scholarship began amidst the pandemic. The selection process involved written round followed by three rounds of online interviews and an interaction with the 12 national finalists. The whole process was truly transformative as it enabled deep self-reflection and critical thinking around my present and future academic goals. While my exact area of application will be finalized in consultation with the Rhodes trust as Oxford, I would like to pursue neuroscience. I am also deeply interested in Indian classical vocals, western electrical keyboards, a cappella singing, roller hockey, skating, science communication and wildlife videography. “

The Rhodes Scholarship is one of the oldest and most prestigious international scholarship programmes that enable young people from around the world to study at the university of Oxford. The five Rhodes Scholars-elect for India 2022 were selected marking the culmination of a rigorous national selection process. For the second year running, the entire selection process was conducted virtually. After a competitive application process and two rounds of Preliminary interviews, the shortlisted finalists were interviewed and five of them were chosen to receive the prestigious scholarship. They have the golden opportunity to pursue their academic interest at the University of Oxford.
The Rhodes Scholarships are Post Graduate Awards providing transformative educational opportunities. Each year five Indian Scholars are selected on the basis of their intellect, character, leadership and a commitment to service, to join Rhodes Scholars from around the world at the University of Oxford. The Rhodes Scholarships include all University and college fees for 2-3 years (depending on the academic route taken), an annual stipend, health insurance and travel expenses to the University of Oxford before the start of the Programme and a return ticket following the course of study. Studying at the University of Oxford will give the chosen Scholars access to world class academics in their field as well as an international alumni network that includes heads of state, Pulitzer Prize winning authors, Nobel Prize winners and Olympians.
