Round-the-clock service being made available in rural covid care centres in Rajouri District
Rajouri: Acting upon the directions of Lieutenant Governor to contain positivity rate and transmission of infection in the rural areas, the District Administration Rajouri has established 05 bedded Covid care cum isolation Centers in all the 312 Panchayats of the district.
The move has helped to decentralise the health care facilities amid Coronavirus threat. The Centers provide both treatment and isolation facilities to the patient lacking much space in their own house to keep other family members safe.
The initiative has provided added access to medical care to rural people amid the pandemic and easing the burden on the Primary, and Community Health Centres upwards to the headquarters hospitals that are currently overworked and understaffed.
The Panchayat COVID-care centres have been equipped with requisite healthcare facilities, having drinking water facility, ventilation, linkage to Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs), besides availability of medicines and regular doctor’s consultation.
Special Panchayat level teams have been constituted to provide all the essential services to the Covid positive patients. These teams also identify the potential and suspected cases by way of testing in their respective areas. This is helping in saving the precious lives by the early intervention of the medical department, besides awareness can also be generated about the preventive measures.
The Panchayat level teams have also been provided with the contact numbers of the Doctors deployed for Tele Medication and Teleconsultation.
All the required facilities including power and water supply, availability of staff as well as other necessary equipment and medicines required for the smooth functioning of the Covid Care cum isolation Centres have been made available in these centres.
Sarpanch, Panchayat Doongi Bhramana, Vipan Kumar said, “Panchayat Level Covid care centres set up by LG’s administration have provided an additional support in the fight against the Covid pandemic.”
“In the PCC set up in my Panchayat, all the logistics including 05 beds, oximeter, water and power supply and other related facilities have been made available for the smooth functioning of the centre”, the Sarpanch said.
He said the teams deployed in the PCC are doing an excellent job. They not only stay in the PCC but also conduct door to door visits in the Panchayat and perform multiple tasks viz testing, vaccination and immunization of the children”.
“One thing I have observed in my Panchayat is that there is a remarkable increase in the testing and vaccination rate. Earlier the people were afraid of getting tested and inoculated for COVID 19, but with the setting up of the PCC, mass awareness has been generated among the rural residents and now they are voluntarily getting themselves tested and vaccinated”, Mr Vipan said.
The initiative of strengthening the medical infrastructure at the Panchayat level has received tons of appreciation from the general public and they assured full cooperation to the Government in its fight against the global pandemic.
