RWTH Aachen University: RWTH scientists recognized as DigiFellows

The Ministry for Innovation, Science and Research of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia started the “Fellowships for Innovations in the Digital University” program in 2016 with the Stifterverband. Each university receives 50,000 euros annually from 2020 to 2023 to fund a project.

For the year 2020, Roth will be honored on behalf of the physics department for the “digital study information days for the subject of physics”. Since the information days could not take place on site due to the Covid19 pandemic in the summer semester 2020, the specialist group created an online offer within a short time. The plan is to use the funding to further expand and consolidate the online format of the study information days so that students from outside the region can continue to be informed about studying physics at RWTH.

Jacobs and Konrad, in turn, will be honored as DigiFellows for the project “Digital Transformation in Applied Design and Product Development” for the year 2021. Here, the face-to-face events “Applied Design and Product Development I and II”, in which the students had access to the institute’s infrastructure, were digitized and opportunities were created to continue using virtual components when they return to a face-to-face format.

The DigiFellow Student Award, presented for the first time, also honored the student Stefan Böttges for his project proposal “PDF-Livestream” for the technical communication course with the basics of mechanical engineering.
