RWTH Aachen University: The aim is to build one of the most important technology incubators in Europe.
With 75 spin-offs, RWTH has a record number of spin-offs in 2020. There were 65 spin-offs in 2019. “We are happy about the individual start-ups, their innovative ideas and approaches to maintain the entrepreneurial spirit and focus on innovative solutions for today’s problems. More important than the number is the founders’ enthusiasm, which remains unbroken despite the Corona crisis, ”explains Professor Malte Brettel, Vice-Rector for Business and Industry at RWTH Aachen University. “Our goal is to build one of the most important technology incubators in Europe and thus contribute to the development of the start-up ecosystem in Aachen.”
As one of the six universities in the “Excellence Start-up Center.NRW” initiative of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, RWTH has been able to create new opportunities for start-ups since 2019. Aspects are the professionalization of start-up advice, the expansion of individual support for founders and networking with supporters from the economy, business angels, venture capital funds, start-ups, companies, accelerators, as well as universities, research institutions and technology centers.
