The THE ranking evaluates the universities based on 17 indicators, which cover the areas of teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and internationality. The research reputation indicator is heavily taken into account in the ranking; 70,000 academics from 166 countries are surveyed about it. RWTH is currently receiving its best result to date. There have also been significant improvements in the area of internationality: the number of international students and employees as well as the proportion of publications with international co-authors have increased.
