RWTH and Deutsche Telekom Initiate a Strategic Partnership

RWTH has signed a strategic partnership framework with Deutsche Telekom AG with the aim to strengthen collaborations when it comes to talent development and research and development. The University is thus one of the key partners in the new Magenta Campus Team, which acts as a long-term partner for universities and all segments of Deutsche Telekom. “We are delighted to welcome Deutsche Telekom as our new strategic partner and are excited to see how our collaboration will now be brought to life,” said Vice-Rector for Industry and Business Relations at RWTH Professor Malte Brettel.

The new partnership was kicked off by a delegation visit from Deutsche Telekom to Aachen. “The young target group is particularly important to us. That’s why we are very much looking forward to a close cooperation as equals, from which everyone involved will benefit: Students, RWTH, and Deutsche Telekom,” emphasizes Alexandra Eichberger, Cluster Lead Employer of Choice at Deutsche Telekom.

Deutsche Telekom is one of the world’s leading integrated telecommunications companies with around 248 million cell phone customers, 26 million landline home phone customers, and 22 million broadband customers. The company is already involved in various research projects and career events on the RWTH campus and now wants to work even more closely with students and researchers at RWTH to develop innovative solutions for the near and long-term future. Current research areas at Deutsche Telekom include future networks, spatial computing, network security, and digital twin and decentralized systems.

The partnership grants Deutsche Telekom access to RWTH’s innovation ecosystem to initiate joint projects with young talent and top researchers, who, in turn, benefit from firsthand insights into the telecommunications industry.
