RWTH: “Center for Sustainable Hydrogen Systems” starts with a kick-off workshop
Hydrogen offers possibilities to replace fossil raw materials with sustainably produced equivalents and is also versatile. Numerous institutes at RWTH Aachen University have been researching the subject of hydrogen for years. Several building blocks for this have already been established in the region. With the “Center for Sustainable Hydrogen Systems” the activities are now to be bundled. RWTH Professor Stefan Pischinger, professor and senior scientist at the Center for Mobile Propulsion, has taken over the spokesperson’s office.
More than 50 professors from RWTH and Forschungszentrum Jülich met for a kick-off workshop. They presented research and development projects and adopted the vision of a uniform hydrogen research infrastructure. Further members for the center are to be acquired.
With the establishment of the center, RWTH and Forschungszentrum Jülich have reached the next milestone on the way to becoming a leading hydrogen region after their success with the application “Future Cluster Hydrogen” in the ideas competition “Clusters4Future” of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The BMBF competition also relied on regional innovation networks that combine the strengths of the players.
