RWTH Embraces Updated Code of Values for Institutional Integrity

RWTH Aachen University has adopted a new Code of Values that embodies the core principles guiding our institution’s engagement with individuals and society. The RWTH Senate has now officially ratified the Code of Values.

The preamble of this document states: “It is integral to our identity as RWTH Aachen University to uphold utmost neutrality, both internally and externally, in line with our commitment to Germany’s liberal democratic basic order, which we actively endorse. We do not promote personal opinions; instead, we provide knowledge and present objective arguments to facilitate critical discourse. The RWTH Code of Values shall act as a guiding beacon for our institution. It is not to be understood as a set of regulations or statutes for the University but rather a reflection of our ethos.”

Encompassing a broad range of principles, the new Code of Values includes pledges to uphold equal opportunities and diversity, democracy, freedom, peaceful collaboration, inclusion and participation, integrity, global engagement and international collaboration, human dignity and worth, sustainability, a culture of open dialogue, excellence, transparency, accountability, and work-life balance in academic pursuits and career.
