RWTH Hosts International Modelica Conference: Advancing Modeling and Simulation Innovations

The 15th International Modelica Conference will take place from October 9th to 11th, 2023 at RWTH Aachen. The event is organized under the leadership of Professor Dirk Müller from the Institute for Energy Efficient Buildings and Indoor Climate (EBC), the Institute for Automation of Complex Power Systems (ACS) and the Institute for Energy and Climate Research – Energy System Technology (IEK-10) of the Research Center Jülich in collaboration with the Modelica Association. More than 200 participants from over 20 countries are taking part in this year’s conference.

The Modelica conference is the main event for users, library developers, tool providers and language designers to share their knowledge and discuss the latest scientific and industrial advances related to Modelica, FMI (Functional Mockup Interface), SSP (System Structure and Parameterization) and DCP (Distributed Co-Simulation Protocol). The program includes modeling of complex physical and cyber-physical systems as well as tools for a wide range of research and industrial applications. In addition to lectures, the conference will also offer several Modelica tutorials, as well as presentations from industrial users.

Modelica is a freely available, equation-based, object-oriented language for conveniently and efficiently modeling complex, multidisciplinary cyber-physical systems described by ordinary differential, difference, and algebraic equations. The Modelica language and accompanying Modelica Standard Library have been used in demanding industrial applications including vehicle dynamics modeling, energy systems, robotics, hardware-in-the-loop simulations, and embedded control systems. The Functional Mockup Interface (FMI) is an open standard for the tool-independent exchange of models and co-simulation. It is supported by many tools and is the key to using Modelica models in non-Modelica environments.
