RWTH Rises In QS Ranking by Subjects
The latest edition of the globally highly regarded QS Ranking by Subjects from British information provider Quacquarelli Symonds has now been issued. RWTH features in the Top 3 German universities in many subjects and even tops all universities in Germany in mechanical engineering and materials science. In architecture, civil engineering, chemical engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, and mining engineering, RWTH is among the top three German universities.
The University is also globally competitive, reaching the Top 100 worldwide in ten different subjects. RWTH performs particularly well in mining engineering, ranking 15th, and in mechanical engineering, where it secures 19th place.
QS’s annual subject ranking is based on various criteria that are weighted differently in the individual subjects. The most important indicator is an online reputation survey of academics and employers, accounting for between 40 and 100 percent of the total points, depending on the subject. The average number of citations from scientific papers impacts the ranking up to 60 percent. International research networks are also considered for some engineering and science subjects.
