RWTH: RWTH Graduates Celebrate Their “Certificate To Dream”

“Your certificate at RWTH is the official certificate to dream. If you really want to change the world, you have to be able to dream! ”Aachen engineering award winner Professor Sebastian Thrun gave RWTH Aachen graduates these words in his keynote, before they put their hats on, as has been the custom for years , threw them into the sky above the dressage stadium in Aachen’s Soers.

After the RWTH had to cancel the central graduation ceremony for all graduates last year due to the pandemic, the popular event could now take place again – within the framework of the applicable Corona Protection Ordinance and with the necessary 3G proof for all participants. The graduates of all faculties and types of degrees – Bachelor, Master, Diploma, State Examination, Magister, Doctorate – of RWTH Aachen for the summer semester 2019, winter semester 2019/20, summer semester 2020 and winter semester 2020/21 were invited. Graduates of the 2019/20 winter semester, the 2020 summer semester, the 2020/21 winter semester and the 2021 summer semester are invited to the model medicine course and the dentistry course.

The approximately 400 graduates were bid farewell with a multi-faceted stage program in the presence of family and friends. As always, there was a lot of applause when the graduates moved into the dressage stadium. Participants in the program included the three moderators RWTH Rector Ulrich Rüdiger, Vice Rector Ute Habel, Vice Rector Malte Brettel, the Minister for Science and Culture of North Rhine-Westphalia, Isabel Pfeiffer-Poensgen via video greeting, for the AStA Lena Schrader and Paul Heuermann , Mayor Hilde Scheidt, Mayors Norbert Plum and Holger Brantin as well as Deputy District Mayor Marianne Conradt. The student dance groups Herencia Latina, Tequila y Limon and the DC HipHop Crew provided entertainment.
