RWTH Scores High In The QS Ranking

In the recently published edition of the QS Rankings, one of the world’s most important university comparisons, RWTH Aachen University has been ranked 106th worldwide, improving by 41 places compared to the previous year. This is its best result to date since the ranking was first published in 2004, and the University had already achieved a significant improvement from 165th to 147th place in the previous year. RWTH also achieved its best result to date in the current edition of the ranking, coming fifth in a comparison with other German universities.

This year, the methodology of the ranking, which is published annually by the British information service provider Quacquarelli Symonds, was revised. In addition to the previous six indicators from the areas of internationality, reputation, supervision ratio and quality of publications, three further indicators have now been added. RWTH succeeded in improving in each of the indicators that were evaluated in the previous year.

RWTH scores particularly strongly in terms of reputation among employers. Here it achieved 93 out of a possible 100 points, placing it among the 50 best universities in the world. In Germany, RWTH has even managed to achieve second place. Aachen also ranks among Germany’s top 10 universities in terms of reputation among academics. RWTH Aachen University also excels in terms of the proportion of international students. Here, it improved from 81 to 83 points and occupies second place among German universities. In terms of citations per employee, which QS uses to measure the quality of scientific performance, the University also achieved a very good score. After an improvement from 61 to 73 points in the previous year, RWTH was even able to increase its score to 79 points this time. This result puts RWTH in fourth place in Germany.

This year, for the first time, the topic of “sustainability” was also included in the QS ranking with an indicator. Here, too, the Aachen University of Excellence made it into the list of the top 10 German universities.
