RWTH’s Professor Gabriele Pradel Elected to the DGHM Board, Advancing Microbiology Leadership”

Professor Pradel is head of the Chair of Cellular and Applied Infection Biology at RWTH and researches the molecular infection mechanisms of the malaria pathogen Plasmodium falciparum. In addition, she is committed to teaching science communication methods during studies and to promoting equal rights for women in science and research.

 

The DGHM serves to promote scientific exchange in the various areas of microbiology, infection immunology as well as hygiene and healthcare through the exchange of scientific and practical experience, the implementation of scientific events and joint scientific projects. In collaboration with the board, the DGHM’s standing working groups work on long-term relevant issues for society such as general and hospital hygiene, diagnostic procedures, microbiological guideline and warning values in food, microbiological-infectious quality standards or guidelines as a decision-making aid for doctors in specific situations. Furthermore, the more than 1,900 members of the Dham are involved in specialist training.
