S.P. Mandali’s WeSchool in the top 50 educational institutes in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2020

Mumbai: S. P. Mandali’s Prin. L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research (WeSchool), India’s leading B-School included in the top 50 educational institutes from across India in the private/self-financed institute category in ARIIA 2020. The Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2020, was virtually announced in the presence of Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Vice-President of India; Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Minister of Education; Shri Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre, Minister of State for Education; Shri Amit Khare, Secretary (Higher Education); Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE; Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy, Chairman, ARIIA Evaluation Committee and Dr. Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer, Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell. Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) is an initiative of Ministry of Education (MoE), Govt. of India to systematically rank all major higher educational institutions and universities in India on indicators related to “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development” amongst students and faculties.

 

Acknowledging the recent accomplishment, Prof Dr. Uday Salunkhe, Group Director, S. P. Mandali’s WeSchool, said, “WeSchool’s position in ARIIA 2020 reflects the efforts of the institute in the direction of achieving the Global Innovation Index and Global Entrepreneurship Index. WeSchool has always been in the forefront for grooming first generation entrepreneurs, and socially centered professionals in various sectors. With technology opening doors to global markets, we are offering opportunities for our students to intern virtually with organisations overseas and participate in national and international level competitions and research.”

 

Recently, WeSchool’s team Transformers won at the 4th edition of Smart India Hackathon 2020 Finals (Software edition) from the nodal centre in Chandigarh. They were competing with other teams for innovative solutions in the area of gamification for health data collection. Post lockdown, WeSchool students contested and were selected in the top 20 in the mega online challenge ‘SAMADHAN’ launched by MHRD Innovation Cell and AICTE. The student participants in this challenge designed, simulated and developed scalable measures for government agencies, health services, hospitals and other services as quick solutions in view of COVID-19. WeSchool students used their skills on projects focussed on saving lives, saving communities and saving businesses. All these ideas signify innovation with purpose and understanding the role of self in the society.

 

WeSchool students also took part in the UMO Design Foundation’s prestigious ‘Design X Social Challenge 2020’ under theme ‘Re-imagining life in lockdown’. Their projects focused on addressing mental and physical problems faced during lock down, system installation for automated sanitization of spaces, and various other innovative solutions proposing a viable strategy to counter COVID-19, revive India’s economy by sustaining businesses in a productive yet safe manner.
