S.P. Mandali’s WeSchool promotes invention through design thinking approach, receives five star rating by Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) for IIC 2.0 calendar year 2019-20
Mumbai: S.P. Mandali’s Prin. L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research (WeSchool), one of India’s leading B-School has been awarded a five-star rating at the Annual Performance Rating of Institutions’ Innovation Council (IIC) in HEIs (Higher Educational Institutes) for the IIC 2.0 the calendar year 2019-20 by Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC). The award acknowledges WeSchool’s endeavor for hosting events to promote innovation and start-up culture. The Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) and AICTE held the event online on 15th October 2020. The Hon’ble Minister of Education, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ along with Shri Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre, Minister of State, Ministry of Education (MoE) graced the event.
Commenting on the award, Prof. Dr. Uday Salunkhe, Group Director, S.P. WeSchool said, “The reward is an appreciation to the WeSchool IIC team of faculty, staff and student council for enabling the sense of curiosity and accomplishment among the student participants through our campus events. The institute continues to stay committed to contributing to our nation’s agenda and placing India on the global map for invention and entrepreneurship.”
Beginning of this year, WeSchool presented a unique opportunity for Indian students and young professionals to invent new solutions at the MIT India Initiative’s ‘Design, Technology & Social Innovation Workshop 2020’ held on WeSchool’s Mumbai campus from 21st to 25th January 2020. It was the first version of the MIT India workshop series assimilating the drive of multiple departments from MIT and Harvard to address the local challenges of India. From 1225 high-quality applications, 300 applicants have been shortlisted as participants. Powered by innovation, thought leadership, and excellence, the WeBiz Fest ’20 held in February 2020 was a learning platform for over 300 students from across IITs and B-Schools participating in AWesmarniya (Video making competition), Wemarsh (Case Study Competition), Weniyog (Business Plan Competition), AnubhaWe (Corporate Quiz), WeChaar (Research Paper) and Wedvaan (Workshop).
In October 2019, WeSchool organized Innovation Fortnight on the occasion of National Innovation Day on campus with various competitions like Essay writing, Quiz Competition, Poster making, Debate Competition, Book Exhibition to create awareness about Innovation and Design Thinking.
Through Innovation- Entrepreneurship workshops, International Conference, International Leadership talks, and Industry roundtable discussions organized by WeSchool during the academic year 2019-2020 has encouraged Design thinking and Intrapreneurial mind-set among students across India.
