Sakhi-OSC Rajouri sensitize Supervisors/AWW about SOPs in case of Domestic violence

Rajouri: In the endeavours to curb the domestic violence against women during the lockdown imposed in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sakhi-One stop centre Women Rajouri today hold an interactive session with the Anganwadi Supervisor and workers and women of the ICDS project Rajouri, concerning standard operating procedure to be adopted during reporting of Domestic violence cases.
The interactive session was organised on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Nazir Sheikh and under the supervision of Nodal officer OSC, Bilal Mir.
It is pertinent to mention that, Anganwadi workers/Helpers have been nominated as contact persons in domestic violence cases and One Stop Centers for providing counselling, legal aid, medical aid, temporary shelters and Helpline 181 are ideal for tackling the menace of domestic violence at all times.
During the interactive session the Administrator, Sakhi-One stop Centre for women, Neetu Sharma along with her team said that as the Anganwadi workers/Helpers are closely working in the community at gross root level has been designated as contact person in case of domestic violence in their respective areas to report and escalates the calls to OSC while following the procedure.
The Anganwadi centre has been designated as the informal safe place as a first point of contact where a woman can report for domestic violence cases without alerting the accused.
The Anganwadi workers have to visit door to door for creating awareness about the institutional support systems in place for the women in distress.
During door to door visit the AWW would if notice any abnormal behaviour, physical abuse marks and such noticeable activit, she would report to the protection Officer immediately.
Moreover case worker Suksham Sharma said the complaints related to domestic violence could be conveyed by the affected women through helpline numbers 181 or through the contact person. Once a complaint is received, a team lead by a protection officer would go on the spot to make an inquiry and offer immediate counselling, protection and shelter depending upon the severity of the abuse.
The child protection officer Rajouri Mohammad Nazir was also present during the occasion.
