Sambalpur to have NIFT centre soon

Sambalpur will have another national institute related to fashion design very soon. The National institute of Fashion Design (NIFT) would have its centre here and Sambalpuri tie, dye and design would be the main courses, informed district Collector Subham Saxena.

It needs a mention here that previously Saxena was in Bhubaneswar and had seen the NIFT branch there. That made him to think for a similar institute here for Sambalpuri sarees so that many people, weavers and youths in particular could be benefitted.

“All the preliminary arrangements for this purpose have been completed. The State gove Government has also forwarded the proposal of the district administration to the Centre. Simply, we wait for the approval of the Government of India,” Saxena told.

A building has been selected at Dhankauda where the NIFT will function at the beginning stage.
