SANJY–2022: Dr Singla inspects readiness of Disaster Management Centers

 

ANANTNAG : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla, today toured various Disaster Management Centers setup in Anantnag as part of contingent planning for SANJY 2022 and shall be put to use in case of exigencies during the Yatra.

The DC visited GBHSS Checki Wangund, GBHS Qazigund, GHS Levdoora, GMS Wangund, GGHSS Qazigund, GHS Vessu, GHS Wanpoh and GMS Wanpoh. At each of these institutions, Dr Singla took stock of the preparedness for accommodating yatries.

A thorough inspection of lodging facilities, electricity and water supply, toilet availability, approaching roads and accommodation available was conducted. The Chief Education Officer was directed to complete minor works related to electric repair and installation of lights prior to commencement of SANJY 2022.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Singla said that the Disaster Management Centers have been established as part of disaster mitigation measures. He said the centres will be essential in minimizing losses to life and property in case of a natural calamity. He further said that directions have been issued for augmentation of resources at these centres and concerned officials have been directed to ensure readiness for use in case of any eventuality.

Dr Singla laid special emphasis on ensuring cleanliness on the Yatra route. He reviewed the implementation of the sanitation plan. He was apprised by ACP Anantnag that all black spots have been cleaned. Further maintenance staff has been deployed on all CSCs enroute the Holy Cave to ensure cleanliness. The DC impressed upon the Heads of Institutions to ensure cleanliness of surroundings.

The DC interacted with students and took stock of the academic as well extra-curricular activities being conducted. He shared words of encouragement with the students and exhorted them to work hard towards their goal. He inspected the functioning of Mid Day Meal Scheme and infrastructure augmentation projects underway in schools.

Dr Singla gave a patient hearing to several public delegations that put forth grievances regarding availability of health staff, drinking water supply and assessment of orchards among other things and directed the concerned officials to redress the grievances in a time bound manner.

The DC was accompanied by CPO, CEO, ACP, SDM Dooru, Tehsildars of Qazigund, Dooru and Anantnag, BDOs of Hiller, Qazigund and Vessu among others.
