Dehradun: Sanskriti School of rehabilitation organized a Webinar on Overview of Disability and Referral Services in India. During the webinar, Dr. Himanshu Das ( NIEPVD) Divyangjan, Dehradun was present as a chief Guest and Priyadarshi Mishra Rehabilitation Officer (CRCSD) and Daya Rani Lecturer in Special Education-MR Mandi (HP) were the key speakers of the day.

Dr. Himanshu das said that “No one is born to be perfect but the term “Disability” spoils the vision of Society to see the ability of the person with a disability.” In Indian Referral Services there are various opportunities available and National Institutes are engaged in the field of providing disability rehabilitation services to the persons with disability as also in undertaking research and development efforts. NIs also provides Vocational Skill training for placement and distribution of assistive aids.

Addressing the audience in his keynote address, Priyadarshi Mishra said “Government is focusing on vocational skills training and persons with disability are no different. Their interest should also be protected and after training we should have some mechanism to place them.”

While proposing thanks note Dr. Rana Singh, Vice-Chancellor said “It needs to be a very remarkable thought process to know about the latest technology, development, roadmap etc.” He also emphasised for giving revolutionary transformation to the landscape for divyangs by evolving new strategies, ideology, technology enabling teaching, training, assisting mechanism, new ways to treat people with multiple disabilities. He further suggested shifting focuses on research and development in this area with a view to evolve new policies, guidelines, and to make the required amendments in the existing act when required.
