Scholars Discuss Significance of Ramadan
Aligarh : The Islamic Studies scholars, teachers, and post-graduate students came together to discuss the significance, practices and traditions of the holy month of Ramadan (ninth month of Islamic calendar observed as a month of fasting, prayer and reflection), in an interactive session organized by the Research Scholars Association of the Department of Islamic Studies, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
The scholars emphasized the importance of Ramadan as a time for spiritual renewal, reflection, and growth. They also highlighted the importance of communal worship and charitable giving during the month and the role of fasting in promoting self-discipline and empathy for those less fortunate.
The Chairman of the Department Professor Abdul Hamid Fazili who is also President of the Association emphasized on the importance of Huqooq ul Ibaad (rights of every soul on another). Professor Abdul Majid Khan discussed various aspects of Ramadan, while Dr Bilal Ahmad Kutty, Advisor of the Association emphasized on the essence of Ramadan.
The teachers and post-graduate students shared their experiences and insights on various aspects of Ramadan, including the daily routine of fasting and prayer, the importance of Quranic recitation and study, and the cultural practices and traditions associated with the month. Dr Aijaz Ahmed, Dr Zubair Zafar Khan and Dr Muslim were also present in the discussion.
Ms. Firdosa Akhter, the Secretary of the Association extended thanks to all the participants.
