Dehradun: School of Hospitality Management at IMS Unison University organized a special culinary challenge of preparing the largest variety of Tarts (a shallow pastry case with both savory and sweet) to be included in Limca Book of Records upcoming edition 2023.
The School of Hospitality Management made an attempt on 21/4/22 at creating a new record to be sent for inclusion in “Limca Book Of Records upcoming edition 2023, by assembling 550 varieties of Tarts (a bakery item). The assembling of 550 tart varieties, two pieces of each variety within 150 minutes was the feat attempted by a team of students, faculty members and staff from the School of Hospitality Management of Unison University, named “Fantastic 36” headed by Chef Abhay Chamoli and chef Devashish Pandey. Total 1100 tarts were prepared by students.
The entire event was aimed at assembling maximum varieties of Tarts in minimum possible time. The event showcased various popular international varieties with different types of spreads and toppings.
Chef Abhay Chamoli and Chef Devashish stated that “Making several different types of tarts was a difficult task. All possible technical types of tarts were prepared making this event the greatest collection of tarts being prepared at the same time. This feat has never been tried elsewhere in the world.
Prof. Vinay Rana. Dean School of Hospitality Management stated “For the entire event, the team has done extensive study. To prepare for this achievement, various practice sessions were held on various days. The goal of setting this record is to instill in students desire to take on new challenges and achieving this feat as a group of students will be the ideal example of teamwork in action.”
The faculty members Mr. Amit Tariyal. Mr. Sumit Pratap. Mr. Naveen Uniyal, Mr. Shashikant. Ms. Deepika Sajwan. Ms. Megha Sharma and Lab charge Mr. Shailender. Mr. Kumar and Mr. Purshotam were the team heads for various student teams conducting research on new recipes and development of tarts.
The event started with the flag off by the Vice Chancellor. Dr. Gautam Sinha at 11 am and concluded at 1.30 pm, thus clocking 150 minutes.
Vice Chancellor. Dr. Gautam Sinha stated that “IMS Unison University is extremely proud of the achievement students and faculty. The objective behind taking such initiatives by University is to initiate out of classroom learning experience for students and to take up a worthwhile challenge. This event will bring laurel to Uttarakhand state”
