SD, I&C departments discuss customization of skill development courses with stakeholders in Kashmir

Srinagar: A joint meeting of Skill Development and Industries & Commerce Department was held today with stakeholders of entrepreneurial units of Kashmir here.
The meeting was attended by the Director Skill Development, Sajjad Ahmad; Director Industries and Commerce Kashmir, Mahmood Ahmad Shah; Joint Directors Industries and Commerce Kashmir, Joint Director Skill Development, Assistant Director MSME and representatives of various unit holders of Kashmir division.
The meeting discussed several issues with regard to the various skill development courses ought to be customized as per the need of local industry.
During the discussion the stakeholders put forth their points about various sectors of trade which have a dire need of skill development.
A thread bearing discussion was held where directors skill development emphasized that Director Industries to come up with a proposal regarding the need and demand of the skill development manpower as per the requirement of entrepreneurs.
He emphasized that local entrepreneurs increase apprentice in their establishments so that unemployment problem is to be redressed.
He added that the department is in the process of hiring a consultancy for identifying the skill development courses which have a dire need in local industry market in JK.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Industries and Commerce stressed for providing job opportunities to the local youth and impressed upon skill development department to customize the courses so that they cater the demand.
He further added that Skill Development Department has a huge infrastructure to imbibe skill development training to local youth.
