Second group of 189 students’ flagged-off for trekking expedition from Shopian

 

SHOPIAN : The District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Shopian, Gurmukh Singh Dutta today flagged off the second group of 189 students of different educational institutions of the district for a trekking expedition to Pahalgam in presence of Chief Education Officer Shopian at mini secretariat Arhama, here.

The camp consists of 189 trekkers of different schools of four education zones of the district including Shopian, Keegam, Imam Sahib and Vehil. The week-long trekking camp has been organised by Youth Services and Sports office, Shopian.

On the occasion DYSSO interacted with the enthusiastic trekkers and advised them to enjoy their trekking expedition in Pahalgam valley by scaling the mighty mountains and exploring their own district.

He said the aim of organizing such trekking expeditions is to imbibe in the youngsters the enthusiasm for adventures besides promoting adventure tourism in Kashmir. He advised the students while trekking to try to keep the environment neat and clean by not throwing polythene and other things which pollute nature.

DYSSO further said that the District Youth Services and Sports department will continue to organise such trekking camps in future to promote adventure tourism.

20 officials from the department of DYSS Shopian are accompanying the group for the trekking expedition.

Meanwhile from zone Vehil, the students were flagged off by ZEO and from zone Imam Sahib by DSP.

Among others, Activity Incharge, Reyaz Ahmad Wachkoo and officials of DYSS department were present on the occasion.
