The Second Undergraduate Convocation of Xavier University, Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Xavier University Bhubaneswar (XUB), one of the premier Universities of India, held its second Undergraduate Convocation on April 19, 2018.
A total of 15 students from the Xavier School of Communications and 71 students from the Xavier School of Commerce graduated this year.
Shri Ravindra Nath, CMD, National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), Government of India graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered the Convocation address. Amongst the distinguished personalities present were officials of Xavier University Bhubaneswar, noted Academicians, Corporate Leaders, parents of the graduating students and guests.
The top rank holders across schools were honored with Gold Medals their achievements in Academic Excellence by the Chief Guest.
The convocation ceremony commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Fr. E. A. Augustine, S.J., Registrar, Xavier University Bhubaneswar. In his speech he congratulated the passing out batch of 2018. He told the students to be the light to the world, always have faith and never be afraid of hard work and excellence. He urged them to always rekindle the core values imparted to them. He concluded his speech by wishing everyone prosperity and asked the students to stay motivated.
Prof. Fr. Lourduraj Ignacimuthu, S.J., Academic Dean, Xavier School of Communications and Prof P.K. Mohanty, Academic Dean, Xavier School of Commerce presented their respective schools Annual Report highlighting the achievements of the school.
In his address the Chief Guest highlighted: –
The Chief Guest in his speech quoted J. F. Kennedy and said education should be for the benefit of everyone and should be the strength for the country. He urged the students to make India vibrant so that the entire world will look upon us. He highlighted the works of NSIC and how it is perceived as an institution of excellence all over the world. He appreciated the Prime Minister’s effort towards startups and said NSIC will be the torch bearer of entrepreneurship in India. He said about his recent visit to Russia where he got to know about how Russia appreciated India’s ability in developing skills in defense and manufacturing sector. He asked the students to strive for becoming employers rather than being an employee and embark the journey from unemployment to self-employment. He said, India is on the threshold of becoming number three in terms of overall earnings and here lies the opportunity for young entrepreneurs. The Chief Guest concluded his speech by wishing everyone luck.
Prof. P. K. Mohanty, Academic Dean, Xavier School of Commerce delivered the vote of thanks.
