Secretary Tan Tianniu Engages in Talks with Qixia District Delegation led by Secretary Dai Huajie
On July 8, Qixia District, Nanjing Economic Development Zone, Xianlin University Town (“Qixia Three Districts”) and Nanjing University held an exchange symposium. Qixia District Party Committee Secretary Dai Huajie, Qixia District Mayor Wang Chengjiang, School Party Committee Secretary and Chinese Academy of Sciences Academician Tan Tianniu attended the symposium and delivered speeches. School Party Committee Deputy Secretary and School Office Director Chen Yunsong, School Party Committee Standing Committee Member and Vice President Zou Yajun attended the symposium.
At the symposium, Tan Tianniu, on behalf of the university, expressed his sincere welcome to Dai Huajie, Wang Chengjiang and his party, and expressed his heartfelt thanks to the leaders of Qixia District who have been concerned about and supported the development of the university’s educational cause for a long time. He pointed out that since the establishment of the Xianlin Campus, Nanjing University has fully utilized its advantages in talent, scientific research, and technology, and has continued to strengthen cooperation with Qixia District in promoting the construction of industry-university-research platforms, school-local cooperation, and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. The cooperation has a solid foundation, remarkable results, and a very broad prospect.
Tan Tianniu said that Nanjing University will continue to give full play to its talent and technology advantages, and work together with Qixia District to seek common development in three aspects: deepening industry-university-research cooperation, promoting talent introduction and cultivation, and promoting the quality and efficiency of scientific and technological innovation carriers, so as to further serve the construction of a strong country in science and technology; in this process, Nanjing University also expects Qixia District to continue to provide strong support for some key promotion projects and school development. First, support the construction and reorganization of Nanjing University’s national key laboratories, and strengthen the “one room, one policy” service guarantee; second, in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s remodeling certification requirements for national university science and technology parks, jointly carry out the construction of Nanjing University’s National University Science and Technology Park, and the two sides will establish a management committee to provide more physical space as the carrier of the university science and technology park; third, continue to support the construction of Nanjing University’s Jiangsu Province Concept Verification Center, jointly care about the maturation and implementation of results, and assist in the introduction of social capital.
On behalf of the Qixia Administrative Region, Economic Development Zone and University Town, Dai Huajie gave a brief introduction to Qixia’s economic and social development and cooperation with Nanjing University from three aspects: First, Qixia’s economic and social development has five characteristics, including strong comprehensive strength, outstanding location advantages, strong scientific and technological innovation momentum, continuous and in-depth integration of school and local areas, and continuously optimized talent ecology; Second, in recent years, the cooperation and construction with Nanjing University has been close, including the Nanjing University Science Park, Nanjing University National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Demonstration Base, Nanjing University National University Science and Technology Park, Nanjing University Industrial Technology Research Institute Headquarters, new research and development institutions, Nanjing University alumni entrepreneurship and other cooperative construction projects have continued to deepen; Third, the concept of further expanding school-local cooperation includes jointly promoting the construction of the knowledge economy circle around Nanjing University, launching a new round of innovative exploration of industry-university-research cooperation, and establishing a closer school-local linkage mechanism. Dai Huajie said that in the face of new situations and new requirements, he hopes that the two sides will take this meeting as an opportunity to further strengthen consultation and cooperation, establish a sense of the overall situation and collaboration, closely coordinate and cooperate with each other, implement the important instructions and earnest expectations of the General Secretary in detail, share the same goals and responsibilities, and promote new breakthroughs in the integration of the school and the local area in the fertile land of Xianlin.
In conjunction with the transformation and development of the Xianlin University Town Management Committee, Wang Chengjiang introduced how the three districts of Qixia can build on the existing cooperation foundation between the school and the local area to better serve the development of Nanjing University.
Chen Yunsong presided over the symposium and exchange meeting. He introduced the operation of Nanjing University in recent years and looked forward to the cooperation between the university and the three districts of Qixia to achieve new breakthroughs, new progress and new results.
Zou Yajun said that both the school and the local government are in an important period of construction and development. Seizing historical opportunities and continuously expanding the space for cooperation is a common choice for mutual benefit for both sides.
