Secretary Tribal Affairs visits Pachayat Shirmal, Shopian; Interacts with PRIs, locals regarding their issues
Distributes financial assistance, sanction letters under Mission Youth, PMEGP
SHOPIAN : Secretary Tribal Affairs, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, today visited Shirmal Panchayat in Shopian district as Visiting Officer under ongoing ambitious “Back to Village” programme to assess the development issues and needs of the Panchayat.
He interacted with representatives of PRs and locals to take stock of their issues concerning welfare and development of their respective areas. He listened to the issues raised by the participants on the occasion assuring them an early redressal of the same.
Secretary, while interacting with the people, outlined the essence of ‘Back to Village’ Programme saying that the sole motive behind launching this people friendly initiative is to ensure that not even a single person is deprived of the benefit of development schemes. He emphasized upon the people to ensure their proactive engagement with the district administration in taking the development profile of the district to new highs.
He said that Government’s Ambitious Outreach Programme intends to enable people to voice their issues more freely at their doorsteps.
Shahid sought feedback from the general public on the effectiveness of welfare schemes as well developmental activities being executed in their respective areas. He lauded the district administration for achieving tangible results on development front.
Secretary also interacted with DDC Chairperson, DDC members and local people and listened to their issues and other developmental needs of the Panchayat.
Earlier, Secretary inspected the stalls set up by various departments and agencies including Horticulture, J&K Bank, Sheep Husbandry, RDD, Animal Husbandry and Floriculture exhibiting Centrally Sponsored Schemes and other government programmes.
DDC Chairperson and members briefed the Secretary about the main issues of public importance like electricity, road connectivity and water supply.
On the occasion, girl students of Eternal Public School presented cultural programme.
Secretary distributed sports kits, Soil Health Cards, Baby kits under BBBP, land passbooks and sanction letters under Mission Youth. Besides, sanction letters worth Rs.90 lakh under PM Employment Generation Scheme through J&K Bank and 2 units of Sheep Husbandry were also provided to the beneficiaries.
DDC, Chairperson, Bilqees Jan, District Development Commissioner, Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, SSP Shopian, Tanushree, JD Planning, Khursheed Ahmed Khatana, DDC members, district officers and people in large number participated in the programme.
