Seminar held on investors’ awareness

ALIGARH  : The Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Management Studies and Research, Aligarh Muslim University organised a one-day seminar on “Investors Awareness” in collaboration with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and Central Depository Services Limited (CDSL).

Mr. Prateek Mohan, Assistant Vice-President, CDSL, Mr. Harbinder Singh Sokhi, Manager, BSE (Investors Protection Fund) and Ms Nanu Kaur, Assistant General Manager, SEBI were the guest speakers.

In his speech, Mr. Prateek Mohan said that financial ignorance can be harmful and emphasised the importance of investment for all. He specially discussed the tagline “investment is subject to market risk” and urged the students to focus on the ever changing market trends and act accordingly.

Mr. Sokhi emphasised the need for saving and investment from an early stage. He elaborated on the points related to how and when to invest in the market.

Earlier, Prof. Salma Ahmed (Dean, FMSR) welcomed the guest speakers while Prof Valeed Ahmad Ansari briefly discussed the features of the seminar.

In his concluding remarks, Prof. Jamal Ahmad Farooquie (Chairman, DBA) stated that financial illiteracy is one of the main reasons for the mismanagement of personal funds.

Dr. Lamay Bin Sabir extended the vote of thanks. Riza Hayat conducted the programme.
