Seminar on the ‘Role of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan in Promoting Legal Education’
Aligarh : “The upcoming generation of lawyers has to arm itself with the new skill sets, up-to-date knowledge and demands of the new age that has brought with it fresh challenges and also created new opportunities”, said Prof Tariq Mansoor, Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), while addressing a national seminar on the “Role of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan in Promoting Legal Education”, organized by the Faculty of Law, AMU.
Prof Mansoor said, teaching of law and legal practice have undergone tectonic shift. Tech-enabled process, data driven and multi-disciplinary nature of the subject demand new skill sets, and mindsets for leveraging the legal knowledge acquired in the classroom.
“The core competencies are important but one has to see technology as a way to further expand skill sets, as innovation and digitalization has transformed the profession at global and national level”, he explained.
The Vice Chancellor praised the Faculty of Law, AMU for fostering excellence in teaching, research and learning, and serving the purpose successfully, which was started by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
The chief guest of the seminar Prof A.R. Kidwai, Director, K.A. Nizami Centre for Quranic Studies, and keynote speaker Prof Faizan Mustafa, Department of Law, AMU, and Former Vice-Chancellor, NALSAR and Vice-Chancellor, NLU, Odisha expressed their views on the role of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan in promoting legal education.
Prof. Iqbal Ali Khan proposed the vote of thanks.
A large number of teaching, non-teaching staff, research scholars and students were present on the occasion.
