Seminar on Urdu Sahafat
Aligarh : A National Seminar on ‘Urdu Sahafat: Zaban kay Badaltay Pas-e-Manzar kay Hawaly Say’ of the Department of Linguistics, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in collaboration with National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), Ministry of Education will be held on March 5 and 6.
According to Prof M J Warsi (Chairman, Department of Linguistics and Director of the Seminar), the seminar coincides with the bicentennial observations of the Urdu print media and the constant interplay of language as medium in the communication process will be the main focus in the two days of the programme.
The seminar will be presided over by AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor and Prof Ehtesham A Khan (Dean, School of Mass Communication and Journalism, MANUU, Hyderabad) will deliver the keynote address.
The programme will also feature speeches by Prof Syed Mohammad Hashim (Dean, Faculty of Arts, AMU), Iqbal Ahmed (BBC, New Delhi), Prof S Imtiaz Hasnain (Department of Linguistics), Prof Mohammad Ali Jauhar (Chairman, Department of Urdu) and Prof Arif Nazir (Department of Hindi).
Prof Shafey Kidwai (Department of Mass Communication) will deliver the valedictory address.
“A total of 29 papers will be presented in the six sessions of the two-day seminar”, said Dr Sabahuddin Ahmad (Organizing Secretary of the Seminar).
