Separate Dept of Cardiology at AMU

Aligarh: Prof M U Rabbani has been appointed as the first Chairman of the Department of Cardiology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). The department came into existence with the upgradation of the erstwhile, Centre of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Research after relentless efforts of AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor bore fruits to get the approval from President of India and Visitor of AMU, Shri Ram Nath Kovind.

The newly established department with two professors, an associate professor and an assistant professor will also introduce a new three-year post doctoral degree, DM (Cardiology).

“The Centre of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Research, which has now transformed into the Department of Cardiology has been successfully conducting stenting surgeries, pacemaker insertions, peripheral interventions and treatment of congenital heart diseases among other procedures. Many new state-of-art procedures will be introduced in the newly established department,” said the newly appointed Chairman, Prof Rabbani.
