Series of Events, Seminars Held under Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav

Aligarh : Series of lectures, seminars and other events were held at Aligarh Muslim University, under the celebration of Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav.

The Department of Sanskrit organised a two-day national webinar, wherein faculty members explored the linguistic diversity and interactions among the languages and dialects in the country.

Prof. T.N. Satheesan, Former Chairman, Department of Modern Indian Languages spoke on the Influence of Sanskrit on Malayalam language and literature, while Prof Udayanath Sahoo, Chair Professor, Adikabi Sarala Das Chair of Odia Studies, School of Languages, JNU, New Delhi, spoke on the Great Indian Epic Mahabharata- in Odisha, West Bengal and Assam.

Dr Bhupender Singh Bedi, Punjabi University, Patiala explored the influence of Sanskrit language on Guru Granth Sahib.

Prof. Shweta Deepti, Central Department of Hindi, Tribhubhawan Vishwavidayalaya, Kathmandu, Nepal spoke on the special features of Nepali Language and Literature, while Prof. Poonam Jain, Former Professor and Head, Dept. of Sanskrit, D.S. College, Aligarh highlighted the salient features of Sanskrit language and literature.

Dr. Pathan Khasim Khan, Department of Modern Indian Languages, (Telugu Section), AMU, and Prof. Harishwar Dixit, Department of Veda, Sanskrita Vidya Dharma Vijñāna Samkaya, BHU also spoke on the occasion.

Prof. Himanshu Shekhar Acharya, Chairman, Department of Sanskrit delivered the welcome address. He delineated how India since time immemorial, has retained its unique character of unity in diversities in spite of several external aggressions.

AMU City Girls’ High School, Qazipara celebrated ‘Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav’ with enthusiasm and fervour, engaging students in a series of events to celebrate linguistic diversity and cultural heritage of India.

Students participated in an Essay Writing Competition, expressing their thoughts on the significance of Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav and its relevance in today’s globalized world.

The celebration included thought-provoking speeches on the importance of preserving and celebrating India’s linguistic heritage, fostering a sense of pride among students.

A poetic touch was added to the festivities with a poem recitation event, allowing students to showcase their linguistic creativity and rhythmic expression. Students also engaged in poster making and discussion, followed by insightful discussions about the themes depicted in their artwork.

Panel discussions were organized, providing a platform to students to delve into conversations about the linguistic diversity of the nation.

Skit performance and special school assembly were also held on the occasion.

The School Principal Dr. Md. Alamgir emphasized the role of language in shaping identities and fostering unity.

Abdullah School, AMU organised several events on a weekly basis, including Art and Craft activities, slogan writings, talent showing and speaking activities (thoughts, quotes and speeches). Different literary and poetic works of Subramania Bharati were presented in the school assembly.

Superintendent Mrs. Umra Zaheer addressed the students, highlighting the importance of Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav.
