Sharda University recently organized a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of university faculty and other stakeholders. The program featured more than 17 industry experts who delivered informative lectures, providing valuable insights into the latest industry trends
While addressing the participants, Prof. Furqan Qamar, Professor, Centre for Management Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia said,” Values serve as the compass that guides outcome-based teaching and learning, where education becomes a transformative journey that shapes students into not only competent persons but also good human beings. Thinking on teaching in terms of what students need empowers tailored progress, while constantly improving teaching methods assures an enhanced educational experience.”
Prof. Prem Vrat Honorary Professor, IIT Delhi enlightened the audience and said, “Empowering educators through Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) emphasize the importance of aligning knowledge, skills, and attitude.” While knowledge and abilities are essential, cultivating a positive mindset takes precedence. A student’s employability goes beyond technical aptitude; their character as a good human being is also necessary. Remember that if you have the appropriate attitude, employment opportunities will naturally gravitate toward you. Investing in our teachers is never exorbitant; it is a long-term investment. Let us foster a culture of appreciation for our educators, acknowledging their vital role in influencing future generations.”
YK Gupta, Pro-Chancellor of Sharda University said “A quality culture thrives in outcome-based teaching and learning when excellence becomes a habit, deeply internalized within educational institutions.” When quality is incorporated in all aspects of education, from curriculum design to student assessments, it produces an environment where achievement, growth, and continual improvement are the driving factors.”
In conclusion, the Faculty Development Programme on Outcome-Based Education at Sharda University served as a platform for faculty and stakeholders to enhance their understanding of industry trends and align their teaching methods with the needs of students. The discussions highlighted the significance of values, character development, a positive mindset, knowledge, and skills. By investing in educators and fostering a culture of appreciation, educational institutions can create an environment where excellence becomes a habit, ultimately benefiting students and society.
