Shardeum aims to introduce 7500+ students to the world of web3 in 90 days

Bangalore : Shardeum, the first EVM-based blockchain that uses dynamic sharding to achieve linear scalability while retaining atomic composability, has launched a Proof of Community Backpacking tour spread over 90 days in India and Nepal. In its bid to introduce the student community to the world of Web3 and its potential, Shardeum will meet over 7500 students across 50+ educational institutions in 28 Indian states and Nepal.

Web3 is a futuristic, decentralized technology that puts powers at the hands of the consumers. Its adoption will soon be a necessity for everyone across the world and India is poised to become a global pioneer that will shape the future of Web3. Approximately 11% of the global Web3 talent is in India and growing at one of the fastest rates ever. However, the country is still challenged by the lack of thorough awareness on Web3 and the potential it beholds. Many of the tech enthusiasts including students in India – especially in the remote parts – have still not been introduced to Web3.

Shardeum aims to address this issue and therefore is set on a mission to conduct Web3 workshops across some of the leading tech and engineering institutions spread across the country. The 2023 tour is being initiated through a Web3 workshop conducted at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Goa.

Often left out owing to its difficult connectivity, the Northeastern states of India, is an integral part of Shardeum’s 90+ days backpacking tour. Interestingly, these states are also home to a huge pool of Web3 developers in the country, thereby demonstrating how Web3 can demolish all divides and bring more communities together to collaborate. Shardeum will also conduct several workshops in Sikkim, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Manipur.

Nischal Shetty, co-founder, Shardeum said, “Web3 is one of the greatest innovations of our times that has the potential to solve several real-world problems. It is where the global future is headed towards, and India can be at the epicenter of this Web3 movement. At Shardeum, we are determined to play a pioneering role in this movement by creating awareness and educating students about Web3 and its potential. We believe that Web3 has the potential to create millions of jobs over the next 4-5 years and India can emerge as a global talent pool in this space.”

Shardeum’s Proof of Community Backpacking tour will cover a host of metro and non-metro cities in the country such as Chennai, Mumbai, Dharwad, Vellore, Nagpur, Surat and Patna among others. Premium institutions such as IIT Goa, Vellore Institute of Technology etc. are a part of the agenda. In Nepal, a workshop will be conducted at a leading institute in Kathmandu, Nepal.

“It is wonderful to see blockchain leaders like Shardeum coming forward to hold events with students. Blockchain is a rapidly growing technology that has multiple use cases. With the community event at IIT Goa, I am sure that students learned about many interesting things from Shardeum experts”, said Dr. Sharad Sinha, Associate Professor (Computer Science and Engineering) and Associate Dean (Faculty Affairs) at IIT Goa.

The 90-day backpacking tour is a unique edition of Shardeum’s larger Proof of Community meetups which helps in creating awareness and education around Web3. So far, the project has conducted over 200+ community events and 100+ meetups spread across 70 cities in 7 countries. In India, Shardeum has conducted workshops in Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Pune and Mumbai among a host of other cities.
