SHEROES Acquires Naaree.com – Appoints Founder Priya Florence Shah as Group Editor

New Delhi: SHEROES, the women-only social network acquires Pune-based women-focused publishing platform Naaree.com, which caters to a core audience of remote workforce mothers, professionals and businesswomen. The acquisition helps SHEROES strengthen and deepen its content offerings to its user base, poised to reach 100 million by 2023.

Founded by award-winning publisher Priya Florence Shah, Naaree offers content that supports women in breaking free of limitations, disempowering thinking, and achieving balance and harmony across the areas in her life. The platform offers career resources, information and podcasts, with empathy, depth and ease of consumption at its core. In 2019, Naaree.com began its community on SHEROES platform, as a space to trigger engagement around its content offerings.
Commenting on the acquisition, Sairee Chahal, Founder-CEO of SHEROES, said, “SHEROES is building the women’s Internet as a safe, constructive space for women offering resources, opportunities, utilities like the counselling helpline and content, besides peer-to-peer conversations and communities. Naaree.com’s content fills a deep gap in the space of functional, useful content for the vast majority of India’s middle-class women audience. Themes such a remote work, self-care, and managing finances have found even more relevance during the current lockdown, and Naaree engages these with depth, also shining the spotlight on women achievers growing their enterprises, and other pursuits. I am excited to welcome Priya to the SHEROES family.”

November 2019 saw the addition of 26 million women Internet users, with urban women users accounting for 40% and rural users at 30%, latter being the fastest-growing demographic. As these numbers grow, SHEROES is building its product to serve diverse needs, aspirations and goals of women. Based on real-time data, the SHEROES app is continually innovating around its core pillars of nurturing identity, connections, mental health and physical well-being, and financial independence, via high empathy, trust and constructive engagement, at the heart of the ecosystem. The platform has also focused on building its three revenues streams -SHEROES’ B to B unit Managed Remote Solutions (MARS), brands business and social commerce unit SHECO.

The Covid19 lockdowns having impacted women in unique, universal ways, leading to spikes in conversations on SHEROES counselling helpline, health communities, and skilling/ entrepreneurship communities have seen a rise in specific discussions. Both SHEROES and Naaree.com have responded with on-theme content, utilities, expert sessions, workshops and other tools to support the real needs of women.
Priya Florence Shah, Founder of Naaree.com shares, “As the African proverb goes, ‘If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.’ This was exactly my thought when Sairee shared her plans for Naaree.com joining the SHEROES family. It’s an exciting new chapter for me to work with a woman entrepreneur whom I’ve admired for so long, and whose goals and vision align so much with my own. As part of the SHEROES family, I know I will enjoy building the women’s internet with Sairee and her amazing team.”

As Group Editor, Priya will leverage her strategic and editorial experience, to bring depth and vibrancy to content across SHEROES properties.
The SHEROES platform along with other network products such as Maya, Babygogo, MARS, SHEROESMoney and SHECO, aims to emerge as world’s most transformative women’s network, with a vision to touch the lives of 100 million women by 2023.
