Shiv Nadar University Chennai, in collaboration with CIIL, Mysore, hosts the first International Conference – SNUCTELL22
The English faculty of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Shiv Nadar University Chennai (SNUC) is organizing SNUCTELL22 – an international conference on South Asian Perspectives of the Teaching of English Language and Literature, in collaboration with the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore on 16 & 17 December 2022. Prof. Suresh Canagarajah (Penn State University, USA) and Prof. Nalini Iyer (Seattle University, USA) will deliver Keynote Addresses. The conference has an excellent line-up of speakers – Prof. (Retd.) Ajit K Mohanty (JNU New Delhi), Prof. (Retd.) Geetha Durairajan (EFL-U Hyderabad), Dr. Giridhar Rao (Azim Premji University Bangalore), Prof. Sowmya Dechamma (UoH Hyderabad), Justice (Retd.) Prabha Sridevan and Dr. Padma Mckertich (Stella Maris College Chennai).
Prof. Sriman Kumar Bhattacharyya, Vice Chancellor, SNUC, will preside over the inaugural proceedings and declare the conference open. Over 80 delegates from India and abroad are participating and presenting their papers. The first day of the event is devoted to themes focusing on Language, and the second day to Literature. The conference features two Panel Discussions, four Plenary Sessions, and five batches of parallel paper presentations covering an extensive range of topics in line with the conference’s theme.
Dr. Deepesh Chandrasekharan, the convenor, and Dr. Cherry Mathew Philipose, the coordinator of the two-day event, said that they are looking forward to an enriching and engaging experience at the conference, as the offline academic deliberations are a refreshing change after the gloomy two-year pandemic period.
