Shiv Nadar University Delhi-NCR Hosts 6th Convocation Ceremony; Confers 4 Honorary Doctorate Degrees

Greater NOIDA : Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR, recognized as an ‘Institution of Eminence’ by the Government of India, celebrated its sixth Convocation ceremony on 24 July 2021, virtually. Over 500 of the University’s undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. students received their degrees in the presence of Mr. Vineet Nayar, Founder Chairman of Sampark Foundation, who joined as Chief Guest.

 

Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR, conferred its Honorary Doctorate degree on four distinguished individuals this year in recognition of their remarkable contributions: one of world’s most renowned quantum physicists, Professor Alain Aspect, Foreign Member of the Royal Society; the trailblazing figurative artist and modernist, Padma Bhushan Ms. Arpita Singh; an iconic ambassador of India’s technology industry, Ms. Neelam Dhawan; and the highly revered diplomat, Ambassador Richard Burt.

 

Dr. Rupamanjari Ghosh, Vice-Chancellor of Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR, said: “Though the COVID-19 pandemic has changed so much in our worlds, we believe that rich traditions, with suitable adaptations, must go on. This year’s Convocation ceremony holds great significance for us, as we celebrate 10 years of the University’s existence.”

 

“This is a moment of high transition for our newest graduates, whom we had handpicked from across the country by looking beyond grade sheets, to mould them as the path-shapers of tomorrow. It makes us so proud today to see so many of them now heading to the world’s finest organizations and academic institutions to pursue their career goals, as inquisitive and responsible global citizens. We are also truly privileged to have the formal association with the legendary Honorary Doctorate recipients”, she added.

 

Some of the leading organisations that graduates of the Class of 2021 head to include Amadeus Labs, American Express, Dell Technologies, Goldman Sachs, HCL Technologies, L & T Technologies, Microsoft to name a few. Many of the students have also secured admission and financial aid offers from top institutions and universities across the world, including Columbia University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Heidelberg University, New York University, University of Copenhagen, University of Oxford, to further pursue their academic goals.

 

Earlier this year, Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR became the youngest-recognized ‘Institution of Eminence’ – a status accorded by the Government of India that makes it part of a distinguished league of top 20 public and private institutions empowered to elevate Indian higher education to the global stage, with complete academic and administrative autonomy.
