Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR, to launch Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering

~ New unified program will replace two existing B.Tech. courses – Electrical & Electronics Engineering; and Electronics and Communication Engineering~

Greater Noida : Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR – India’s leading multidisciplinary and research-focused university today announced the introduction of a unified B.Tech. program in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The degree combines the core of existing engineering programs in Electrical & Electronics as well as Electronics & Communications. The program will give students an edge to adapt to an ever-changing ecosystem entrenched in technology.

The program is being introduced by the School of Engineering in alignment with the growing requirements for such professionals in the industry and the academia. The upcoming Bachelor’s program has been structured to nurture generation of technology leaders and put them at the forefront of an evolving and exciting future.

Talking about the new program, Dr. Rupamanjari Ghosh, Vice-Chancellor, Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR, said, “Our School of Engineering has established itself as an exemplary institution in terms of globally-benchmarked undergraduate curriculum, aided by innovative and engaging teaching methodology. With rapid developments in the technology sector, there is a constant need to identify and make systematic upgrades to programs on offer, in the best interests of our students. We closely review and analyze trends in industry and academia, and have the flexibility to redesign the curriculum as and when necessary. This latest offering in Electrical & Computer Engineering is a testimony to the agile and rigorous process we follow. The emergence of Computer Engineering has led to a fundamental shift in the design of electrical and electronic equipment, with low-cost microprocessors/ microcontrollers being embedded in a system performing dedicated functions. A lot of hard work has gone into this essential integration of the curriculum in keeping with the times. This curriculum is quite distinct from the Computer Science program we already offer.”

Dr. Sandeep Sen, Dean, School of Engineering, Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR, added, “The B. Tech. Program in Electrical and Computer Engineering has been designed to impart essential concepts of both electrical and computer engineering subjects to undergraduate students, thereby making them better prepared to tackle the upcoming technological challenges. This new program addresses the emerging trend in industry and research in which knowledge of computer engineering becomes essential for electrical engineers where the use of the latest hardware and software analysis tools are some of the key features of this program. It also allows a student to exercise more options in terms of Specialization in electives rather than having to commit prematurely one of the two streams defined by the two distinct B. Tech. programs.”

The multi-skill set and highly sought-after program will offer four distinct specializations. These include: Modern Energy Systems; Embedded Systems & Computer Engineering; Analog/RF & Communication Systems; and Sensors & Nano-Electronics.

The specialized nature of this degree will provide skills to meet the needs of the industries that are recognizing the transformative potential of Electrical and Computer Engineering from AI in healthcare, to manufacturing driverless cars, automotive and more. Students will be exposed to forward-thinking concepts and solutions for tomorrow’s worlds and hands-on, experiential learning opportunities along with international exchange programs with eminent institutions. The School of Engineering at Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR will also offer students an opportunity to work with major technology companies on industry-initiated projects.
