Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR to launch three specializations for B.Sc. (Research) Degree in Chemistry

Greater Noida: Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR – India’s leading multidisciplinary university today announced the introduction of academic specializations to their existing B.Sc. (Research) degree in Chemistry. Students keen on pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry will now have the option of choosing any of the three specializations – Chemical Biology, Computational Chemistry, Materials Chemistry – allowing them opportunities to gain extra depth of experience and knowledge.

 

Under the new B.Sc. degree with specialization, students will receive rigorous training in chemistry and related transferable skills – which will put them in a strong position to apply for a range of different employment sectors. The proposed multidisciplinary curriculum will attract a large pool of students all the while maintaining and advancing interests of aligned students. This early guidance and developing of specific interests among the students would assist them to secure higher education prospects faster. Students can also opt for no specializations.

Our Department of Chemistry has a stellar faculty. The B.Sc.(Research) program in Chemistry, designed very carefully, was reviewed recently as part of the University’s Vision-2030 exercise. The new specializations highlight the faculty’s research strengths as well as the demands in industry and academia. Students come here from all Chemistry streams, PCM (Physics-Chemistry-Mathematics) or PCB (Physics-Chemistry-Biology), and the electives will cater to all our students, enhancing their knowledge and understanding, and empowering them to face specific challenges in the world.”

Students pursuing each concentration and specialization will be mentored by globally experienced, knowledgeable and supportive faculty, and will complete practicum hours in the field for immersive learning. The new specializations will offer teaching curriculum, which is highly research oriented, providing flexibility to the students to choose their direction of professional growth as well as orient towards academia and industries.”

 

The Department of Chemistry at the University is dedicated to using chemistry as a tool to tackle global challenges. The program initially focuses on students acquiring foundation and introductory modules, which will be followed by hierarchical additions of modules in a ladder-by-ladder approach conditional to student interests and individual growth. Students are expected to enroll in this program from the upcoming academic year.
