Shyam Saran to Deliver the G-20 Sir Syed Memorial Lecture on 15th July
Aligarh : Mr. Shyam Saran, Former Foreign Secretary, Government of India is going to deliver the prestigious annual G-20 Sir Syed Memorial Lecture-2023 on Saturday, 15th July, 2023 at the JNMC Auditorium, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) at 10:45 am. He will speak on “Revisiting India’s Foreign Policy”.
Sir Syed Memorial Lecture is a very important event in Aligarh Muslim University. Some of the most distinguished persons in their field have delivered this lecture in the past. Some such distinguished speakers include, among others, Bibek Debroy, Syed Akbaruddin, Gopalkrishna Gandhi, N. N. Vohra, Ramchandra Guha, M. J. Akbar, Shamsur Rahman Faruqi, Shyam Benegal, Syed Hamid, Abid Hussain, Kuldeep Nayyar, Tara Chand, Rafiq Zakaria, B. N. Pandey and Prof Gordon Campbell.
Mr. Shyam Saran, an Indian career diplomat, joined the Indian Foreign service in 1970 and rose to become the Foreign Secretary to the Government of India. Prior to this, he served as India’s Ambassador to Myanmar, Indonesia and Nepal and as High Commissioner in Mauritius.
In 2011, in recognition of his contribution to civil services, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan.
