Consul General of France visits SibFU
On 30 April 2021, a delegation from the Consulate General of France in Yekaterinburg headed by Consul General Pierre-Alain Coffinier visited Siberian Federal University.
As part of the visit, Mr Consul General visited the School of Gastronomy, where the Higher School of Gastronomy from INSTITUT PAUL BOCUSE was opened in 2019 for the first time in Russia, and highly appreciated what he saw. The unique educational program is designed to change the restaurant industry and enable chefs with Russian education to work on the world stage.
Within the working meeting with vice-rector for research Ruslan Baryshev, head of the Department for International Cooperation Anna Mezit, representatives of the Polytechnic School and the School of Philology and Language Communication, the parties discussed the possible implementation of double degree programs with French universities and the prospect of academic exchanges within the framework of the existing research and educational cooperation with institutions of France.
“In 2021, the French Embassy in the Russian Federation signed an agreement with SibFU on joining the French-speaking linguistic network (RLF), the purpose of which is to continue joint activities to promote the teaching and studying of the French language and culture in Russia. With SibFU French Language Resource Center assistance, they implemented the project to provide the teaching staff of the university with the opportunity to participate in seminars and scholarship programs of the French government and pay their travel costs for transfer between the university and the place of study,” said Anna Mezit, head of the Department for International Cooperation. “The agreement with the French Embassy in the Russian Federation will also contribute to the promotion of study programs in France among university students, the development of student exchange programs among linguistic students, as well as students of non-linguistic specialities”.
The year 2021 has been declared the Bilateral Year of Interregional Cooperation between Russia and France.
